CBSE Class 12-science Answered

Why does the magnetisation of a paromagnetic material vary with temperature
Asked by Shivam.t2003 | 29 Jun, 2019, 04:09: PM
answered-by-expert Expert Answer
The individual atoms (or ions or molecules) of a paramagnetic material possess a
permanent magnetic dipole moment of their own. On account of the ceaseless random
thermal motion of the atoms, no net magnetisation is seen. When the temperature is lowered
random thermal motion decreases. Hence randomness in orientation of magnetic dipoles decreases
when temperature is lowered. This makes increase in net magnetisation of paramagnetic material.
