Why do we equate relative velocity and velocity?
Is relative velocity and velocity same . If yes how?

Expert Answer
Velocity is displacement made in unit time .
Displacement is measured from a reference frame that is at rest .
For relative velocity , displacement is measured from a reference frame that also moving.
For example , an observer standing on earth surface seeing a moving train that has speed V .
Velocity of train is V for the observer because he is at rest.
If observer is moving by a vechile in same direction with speed v , then relative velcoty of train
with respect to observer is (V-v)
