Why are igneous rocks also known as primary
rocks?

Igneous rocks are also known as primary rocks chiefly because of the following two reasons:
- Igneous rocks are formed due to the cooling and solidification of lava and thus are naturally formed.
- All the other types of rocks are formed from igneous rocks.
