A person can be disqualified from being or chosen to be a member of the Lok Sabha
- If he/she holds an office of profit under the government of India or under the government of any state (other than an office exempted by the Parliament by law) but not a minister for Union or for a State.
- If he/she is of unsound mind and is declared so by a competent court.
- He/she is an undischarged insolvent.
- He/she has ceased to be a citizen of India or has voluntarily acquired citizenship of a foreign country/state or is under acknowledgement of allegiance or adherence to a foreign power.
- He/she is disqualified by or under any law made by the Parliament.
