NEET Class neet Answered
When a coil and a magnet move with their constant speeds 5 m/s and 3 m/s respectively towards each other the induced emf in the coil is 16 mV. if both move in the same direction why does the induced emf get reduced to 4mV in the coil ?

Expert Answer
when coil and magnet move towards each other, change in magnetic flux is greater
because their relative velocity is 8 m/s with respect to each other.
When coil and magnet moves in same direction, their relative velocity is 2m/s .
In this case change manetic flux is less compare to their movement towards each other.
Hence induced emf is greater when coil and magnet move towards each other
compare to the induced emf when both are moving in same direction
