Consider a pea plant with inflated pod shape (PP) and another pea plant having constricted pod shape (pp). All the plants of F1 generation will have inflated pod shape (Pp) as inflated shape of the pod is the dominant character. When F1 generation (Pp) is self pollinated---

Gametes formed: From one plant:       P    p
                             From another plant:  P   p
F2 generation obtained as a result of self pollination:

P
p
P
PP
Pp
p
pP
pp

The plants of F2 generation show ratio of 3:1 i.e.3 plants will have inflated pod shape and 1 has constricted pod shape.
