Mexico (1930s – 2000) and Zimbabwe used Unfair practices in elections. This was because:

  • PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party) in Mexico to used dirty tricks to win the elections. All government officers had to attend party meetings. Teachers of government schools forced parents to vote for the PRI. Media was used by the ruling party to criticise the opposition parties.
  • In Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe was a popular leader but he used unfair practices to win the elections. The constitution was changed several times, opposition party workers were harassed, any public protest was considered illegal and television and radio was controlled by the government.
  • Thus we can say that though elections took place in Mexico and Zimbabwe, the governments in power in the countries used unfair means and practises to win elections.
