The revenues of the Company increased after it received the Diwani rights of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa. It was because of the fact that while earlier the British purchased raw materials and finished goods in India by importing silver and gold coins from Britain, now after assuming the Diwani, they brought these materials from the revenues collected from these three regions. Moreover, after becoming more or less the rulers of the land, they forced the zamindars to sell their products at low rates. They now profited from financing the purchase of goods for exports from India.
