Various functions of the state legislature:

1. Both the Houses are allowed to make laws on the subjects included in the State and Concurrent List.
2. It exercises control over the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers. Also, to keep a check on the working of the executive, they ask them questions regarding the policies.
3. If there is an urgent matter to be discussed, the State Legislature can move an adjournment motion.
4. It also participates in the election of the President and the election of the members of the Rajya Sabha.
5. Vidhan Sabha passes the annual budget. The approval by the Vidhan Parishad is only a constitutional formality. Money bills is introduced only in the Legislative Assembly.
