Total EMF of n cells connected in series and formed a loop but two cells are connected in reverse polartiy.
Combined EMF of cells in the loop = (n - 4 )×E Volt
if each cell has internal resistance r, current in the loop, I = [ (n-4)×E ] / (n×r) ................ (1)
Potential difference across a reversed cell = EMF - (potential drop across internal resistance )
= E - { [ (n-4)×E ] / (n×r) }×r = E - [ (n-4)×E ] / n = 4E/n
