Expert Answer
Hormones produces in the hypothalamus that stimulate or inhibit the secretion of anterior pituitary hormones are called hypophysiotropic hormones. These include-
- Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)
- Thyrotropin-releasing Hormone (TRH)
- Growth Hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH)
- Somatostatin (SS)
- Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)
- Dopamine (DA)
Peptide hormones or protein hormones are hormones whose molecules are peptides or proteins, respectively. Prolactin release inhibiting hormone is an amino acid derivative hormone produced in the hypothalamus. So, the correct answer is 'prolactin release inhibiting hormone'.
DA is a catecholamine; all other hypophysiotropic hormones are peptides.
