RMS current im is given by,
im = vm / [ R2 + (XC - XL)2 ]1/2........................(1)
where R is resistance, XC is capacitive impedence and XL is inductive reactance
we have , vm = 100√2 V
R = 1000 Ω , XC = 1/( ωC ) = 1/ ( 2π × 1000 × 10-6 ) = 159.15 Ω , XL = ω L = 2π × 1000 × 2 = 12566 Ω
Hence we get RMS current im using eqn.(1) as
im = ( 100 √2 ) / [ 106 + (159.15 - 12566)2 ]1/2 = 11.36 × 10-3 A = 11.36 mA
Potential difference across resistance = im R sin(1000 t ) = 11.36 × 10-3 × 1000× sin(1000t) = 11.36 sin(1000t) V
Potential difference across Capacitance = im XC sin(1000 t ) = 11.36 × 10-3 × 159.15× sin(1000t) = 1.81 sin(1000t) V
Potential difference across Inductance = im XL sin(1000 t ) = 11.36 × 10-3 × 12566× sin(1000t) = 142.75 sin(1000t) V
