Figure shows the arrangement of two nichol prisms P1 and P2 which are kept perpendicular to each other.
If two more nichol prisms P3 and P4 are kept in between P1 and P2 symmetrically, then each prism is oriented in 30°
with respect to previous one as shown in figure.
If Io is the incident light intensity on P1 , then as shown in figure,
emerging light intensity from P2 is (Io/2) cos630 = (Io/2) (√3/2)6 = (27/128)Io
