Expert Answer
Humayun succeeded to the Mughal throne which was not a bed of roses because he was surrounded by dangerous enemies on all sides. They were
- Humayun’s three hostile brothers - Askari, Hindal and Kamran. According to the wishes of his dying father, he treated all his brothers well. However, his brothers were constantly plotting against him.
- Sher Khan, an Afghan chief, was a rebellious and an ambitious ruler. He wanted to annex Delhi.
- Humayun also had to deal with Bahadur Shah - the ruler of Gujarat and Malwa. He was constantly plotting against Humayun as he himself wanted to become the emperor of Delhi.
