In a basket of apples, 12% of them are rotten and 66 are in good condition. Find the total number of apples in the basket.
Solution:
Let the total number of apples in the basket = m
→ 12% of m = 12/100 × m = 12m/100
12% of the apples are rotten and 66 are in good condition ..... given
→ m - 12m/100 = 66
→ 88m/100 = 66
→ m = 6600/88 = 75
Therefore , the total number of apples in the basket are 75.
