Charge on the capacitor keep on decreasing as per the following equation
q = q0 exp { - t/ (RC) }
Let us assume at time T the charge is halved in the capacitor.
if we substitute q = q0/2 in the above equation we get 2 = exp{T/RC) after simplification.
Hence T = RC ln(2)
