a. Stretch: When a normal spring held between the hands is pulled outward, we stretch it.
b. Compress: When we push a piston fitted inside a cylinder containing the gas, we compress the gas.
c. Resist: When we try to move heavy roller, it resists our effort to move it.
d. Lifts: The force that a passenger applies to put the luggage from the platform into the train is a lifting force.
