We know that, If a, b and c are in geometric progression.

→ b2 = ac

Here, a = 3, b = x + 4 and c = x + 10
→ (x + 4)2 = 3(x + 10)
→ x2 + 8x + 16 = 3x + 30
→  x2 + 5x -14 = 0
  →  x2 + 7x - 2x -14 = 0
→ x(x + 7) - 2(x + 7) = 0
→ (x + 7)(x - 2) = 0
→ x = -7 or x = 2
