Find the minimum length in cm and correct to nearest whole number of the thin metal sheet required to make a hollow cylinder box of diameter 20 cm and height 35 cm. Given that the width of the metal sheet is 1m. Also find the cost of the sheet at the rate of Rs 56 per metre

It is assumed that hollow cylinder is made with both the circular faces are covered.
If the cylinder's diameter is 20 cm, its circumference is π×20≈ 63 cm. Cylinder height is 35 cm.
Hence the curved surface can be made with sheet dimensions 63 cm x 35 cm as shown in figure.
As shown in figure, after marking the above mentioned area in the sheet, only 37 cm is left in width.
In order to cut two circles of diameter 20 cm,we need to mark these circles length wise as shown in figure.
Hence minimum required length of sheet is 40 cm.
Cost of the plate = Rs.56×(40/100) = Rs.22.40
