Expert Answer
The importance of the hydrosphere is as follows:
- Oceans are the main source of humidity and precipitation.
- They affect the climate of a place. The places located near the oceans experience a moderate climate while the places which are located in the interiors of the continents, far away from the oceans, experience an extreme climate.
- Oceans are the storehouse of minerals like petroleum etc.
- The oceans are also the storehouse of energy. The waves of the oceans can be used for the production of electricity.
- Oceans have been serving as a means of transport since ancient times.
- The hydrosphere provides humans, animals and plants with drinking water. Without rivers, lakes and ponds, the development of civilisation would probably not have taken place.
