Expert Answer
Alternating voltage is of the form :- E(t) = Em sin[ω t + φ ] ................(1)
where Em is the peak voltage , ω is angular frequency and φ is the phase angle between current and voltage .
Given Alternating voltage , E = 20 sin[ 40t + (π/4) ] ...................(2)
if we compare eqn.(1) and eqn.(2) , we get angulr frequency ω = 40 rad/s and phase angle φ = π/4 rad
Phase angle is given in terms of Resistance R and other reactances as , tan ( φ ) = [ XC - XL ] / R
if phase angle φ = π/4 rad , [ XC - XL ] / R = 1 or [ XC - XL ] = R = 10 Ω .
Impedence of circuit Z = = = 10√2 Ω
Maximum current im = Em / Z = 20 /( 10√2 ) = √2 A
RMS current irms = ( im / √2 ) = ( √2 / √2 ) = 1 A
Instantaneous current , i(t) = √2 sin( 40 t )
