  • An allergy is a reaction by the immune system to something foreign entering the body. An allergy is the body’s attempt to expel something that does not belong in the body.
  • An allergen is any substance, often some kind of protein that triggers an allergic reaction in a person who is sensitive to it. 
  • Allergens and allergy have a cause and effect relationship. Because of an allergen, the body responds by triggering an allergy to get rid of the allergen or neutralise it.
