Attribute is defined as a chracteristic or quality of a object. In statistics classifying data based on attributes or characteristic is known qualitative classification of data. Example of attributes are region, caste etc.

Difference betweem Variable and Attribute:
1. Anything that varies or changes over time and can be expressed numerically is taken as a variable. Where as a change in the attribute is only expressed qualitatively as good, excellent or average.
2. Example of variable is weight, Example of attribute is education.
