(i) The distance covered by the object from O to B is the sum of distances travelled from O to C and then from C to B.
Now, the object covers a distance of 3 km from O to C and then 4 km from C to B.

OB = OC + CB = 3 + 4 = 7 km

similarly the displacement is the distance between the final and initial positions. So, displacement between O to B is final position minus initial position.

OB = 7 km - 0 km = 7 km

(ii) From O to A and then to C
The distance is

d = OC + CB + BA + AB + BC = 3 + 4 + 5 + 4 + 3 = 19 km

Now, the displacement is final position minus the initial position.

s = C - O = 3 - 0 = 3 km
