A truck travel some distance at a speed of 30 km/h in 120 min and remaining distance speed of 48 km/h in 90 min determine the        (a) total distance covered   (b) average speed over the entire journey

Answer:
Distance = Speed x time
 
Distance travelled in 120 mins (2 hr) at the speed of 30 km/hr
distance = 30 x 2 = 60 km
 
Distance travelled in 90 mins (1.5 hr) at the speed of 48 km/hr
distance = 48 x 1.5 = 72 km
 
Total distance = 60 + 72 = 132 km
 
Average Speed = Total distance / total time
Average Speed = 132/ 3.5 = 37.7 km/hr
