A rectangular sheet of tin is 36cm by 25 cm. From it 56 circular button each has radius 3.5cm have been cut. Find the area of the remaining sheet.

Area of sheet = 36 × 25 = 900 cm2
 
area of 56 circular buttons = 56×π×3.5×3.5 = 2156 cm2
 
area of cut out buttons are greater than area of sheet. Hence the problem is wrongly formulated.

let us assume the number of buttons have been cut are 14.
 
area of 14 circular buttons = 14×π×3.5×3.5 =  539 cm2
 
Remaining area of sheet  = 900 -  539 = 361 cm2
