a cylinder is within the cube touching all the vertical faces.a cone is inside the cylinder.if their hts. are same with the same base,find the ratio of their volumes?

Dear Student,
As the cylinder is touching all the four faces of the cube, hence its diameter = side length of cube = 2a
Let its height be h. Hence the height and radius of the cone are h and a respectively.
Volume of cylinder = Π × a2 × h
Volume of cone = 1/3 × Π × a2 × h
So ratio of volumes = Volume of cylinder/ Volume of cone= Π × a2 × h/(1/3 × Π × a2 × h)
= 3:1
