Mass media and professional opportunities:
- Newspapers provide fresh news to the readers. Its reporters enquire about the events and compare it with past events or incidents. The readers thus get additional information.
- Newspapers also publish supplements to the regular edition or special issues. For example, in 2017, 75 years after the launch of ‘Quit India Movement’ a newspaper published series on articles on it.
- Several programmes in radio and television are based on History. Thus, the medium of mass communication like TV and Radio preserve each political, social and economic event and speeches by famous personalities.
- TV channels also broadcast programmes based on history. Doordarshan and other channels create interest among viewers regarding various historical events.·
- Currently, channels such as ‘Discovery’, ‘National Geographic’, and ‘History’ have been telecasting a wide variety of programmes on History, wild life and nature. They have also been airing programmes on history of culinary arts etc. which is watched by millions of people across the world.
