why we are often taking atmospheric pressure in mercury

I assume that the question is -
Why mercury is often used in barometer for measuring atmospheric pressure.
Solution : -
Mercury is the most ideal liquid for the barometer due to the following three reasons:
1) It is the heaviest liquid. Therefore it rises to a height of only 76 cm to balance the atmospheric pressure.
2) It gives more accurate reading as it does not stick to the glass.
3) It is opaque and shiny and hence can be seen easily through glass
