- The term 'peninsula' refers to the landmass which is surrounded by water bodies on three sides.
- India is called a peninsula as it is surrounded by water bodies from three sides.
- On its western side, it is surrounded by the Arabian Sea, on the southern side by the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal surrounds it in the eastern side.
