why does mesturation occurs?

Menstruation occurs once puberty is attained. It is a preparation by the female body for preganancy.
One ovum is released during the middle of each menstrual cycle. If this ovum is not fertilised, menstruation results. The menstrual flow results due to the breakdown of endometrial lining of the uterus and its blood vessels which forms the liquid that comes out through vagina.
