CBSE Class 10 Answered
why did nationalist tension emerge in the balkans
Asked by rakeshkumarrrcat | 02 Jun, 2021, 11:13: AM
The Balkan region comprised the present day territories of Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece and Montenegro. All these states, in the first half of the twentieth century, were jealous of each other and wanted to annex the territories of their states by conquering the other states. Situation was further made worse because of the colonial rivalry which existed among imperialist European nations to extend their influence over the Balkan states. They instigated one Balkan state against the other for their own benefit. The region, thus, became a center of conflict and aggression finally leading to the outbreak of the First World War.
