Maximilien Robespierre was a radical Jacobin leader and one of the principal figures in the French Revolution. Robespierre briefly presided over the influential Jacobin Club, a political club based in Paris. His reign in France was commonly known as the 'reign of terror' in France from September 5, 1793, and July 27, 1794. He executed a large number of people during his rule.
