Elements which has very high atomic number or atomic mass tends to show radioactivity. Radioactivity is basically loss of mass by radiation of different particle (alpha decay, beta decay, gamma decay). Radioactivity is a phenomenon which is observed at nucleus of an atom.
Whenever nucleus of an atom is attacked by energetic neutrons or two small elements like hydrogen fused together forcly the atom tend to become radioactive.
