what would happened if the wire was cut somewhere along its length? Without replacing or repairing the wire, how can you make the bulb glow again?

If the wire is cut somewhere in the length you can just form the contact between the two wires. For the bulb to glow again the two wires should be in a contact with each other which can be done by just connecting them or by adding another conducting wire which form a contact between the disconnected wires.
(Precaution: While doing this one should ensure that the power supply is off else there are higher chances of person getting shock. Also, after connecting wires cover the naked wires with insulation (eg. insulating tape))
