According to the theory of divine kingship, the
king is the representative of God on the Earth. Thus, the king is not answerable
for his actions to anyone but only to God.
Balban believed in the theory of divine
kingship.
He believed in this theory to emphasise the
supremacy of the king over nobles and subjects. This led to strengthening
the position of the king and made him a central and powerful figure.
