workdone = begin mathsize 12px style F with rightwards arrow on top times space d with rightwards arrow on top space end style
if F = 8i+6j  then workdone = (8i+6j)·(2i+4j) = 16+24 = 40 J
if F = 8i-6j  then workdone = (8i-6j)·(2i+4j) = 16-24 = - 8 J
if F = 6i-8j  then workdone = (6i-8j)·(2i+4j) = 12-32 = -20 J
if F = 6i+8j  then workdone = (6i+8j)·(2i+4j) = 12+32 = 44 J
 
Hence for workdone 44 J, force is ( 6 i + 8 j ) N
