Photosynthesis is the process of synthesising food in plants.
The green pigment called chlorophyll traps sunlight energy and converts inorganic raw materials carbon dioxide and water into organic compounds, glucose and liberates oxygen during this process.

Steps involved in photosynthesis are:
  1. Absorption of light energy by chlorophyll.
  2. Conversion of light energy to chemical energy & splitting of water molecules into hydrogen & oxygen.
  3. Reduction of carbon dioxide to carbohydrates.
