S.I. is a coherent system of units. In this system all the derived units can be obtained by multiplying or dividing the fundamental units.
This system is closely related to CGS system.
It is a rational system of units. i.e This system uses only one unit for one physical quantity which is not so with the other system of units.
The SI unit of distance or displacement is m, for time it is seconds and for mass it is kilogram (kg)
