As you know, the real number line has two types of numbers; rational and irrational.

A non terminating non repeating decimal  represents an irrational number.

e.g. 2.34123....

Also we can say that the numbers which can't be represented in the p/q form ( where p and q are integers and q is non zero) is an irrational number.
