Shadows are formed by opaque or semi-opaque bodies when the light falling on them cannot pass through to the other side.
Now, for the given case
a) When the distance between the light source and the object increases --> The size of the shadow will decrease.
Since the object will block less light than the initial condition.
b) Similarly, when the distance between the object and the screen increases --> The size of the shadow will increase.
Since the object will block more light than the initial condition.
