Hα line belongs to balmer series.
Balmer formula is : begin mathsize 12px style 1 over lambda equals R open parentheses 1 over 2 squared space minus space 1 over n squared close parentheses end style, where R is rydberg constant
For Hα line n = 3, hence begin mathsize 12px style 1 over lambda equals space 1.03 cross times 10 to the power of 7 cross times open parentheses 1 over 2 squared minus 1 over 3 squared close parentheses space equals 1.431 cross times 10 to the power of 6 space m to the power of negative 1 end exponent end style
hence λ = 699 nm
