There are three main trypes of rainfall:

Convectional Rainfall: This type of rainfall takes place in the equatorial regions. In equatorial areas, high results in high rate of evaporation. Warm air rises higher into the
atmosphere, it then expands and spreads at the top. Since the capacity of cold air is less, condensation of water vapour results into rainfall.

Orographic rainfall:Orographic rainfall is also known as relief rainfall because it is affected by the relief or physical features of a place i.e., mountains. When the moisture bearing winds strike a mountain range, it is forced to ascend or go up. As the wind rises up the mountains, it cools down to its saturation point bringing rainfall on the windward side of the mountains.

Cyclonic Rainfall: Cyclones are formed when the pressure at an area is less than the surrounding regions. Air from the surrounding region comes toward the center of the cyclone and starts moving upwards. As it rises, the temperature of the air reduces, condensation occurs and rainfall takes place. It rains in those regions where cyclones passes.
