Using x = A sin(  ω t+ Φ) where all the symbols have usual meaning 
Using given data in this equation  and equating it, 
We get
A/2  = A sin(Φ)
Where Φ initial phase difference 
So Φ = π/6 or 30 degree
 
Opposite direction of shm means if one of the particle is moving from mean position to maximum amplitude point direction then other particle is moving toward mean position from maximum amplitude point.
