There are various reasons as to why the US became a super power after the Second World War. Some of these were:

The technology of building an atom bomb enhanced its reputation among the European powers.
US was the only country which profited from the war. Because it was economically sound, it began to give loans to other countries to build their economies. This made US an economic leader in the world.
The US also took upon itself the responsibility of preventing communism from spreading and became a leader of Western European countries.
