The top of a roof made of asbestos is painted white.Why?

maximum reflection or scattering out of incident radiation is possible only with white colured surface.
Hence most of the incident radiation due to sunlight will be reflected back or scattered out.
Asbestos will absorb less amount of radiation and is heated less if the surface is painted as white.
Hence temperature below asbestos will be moderate
