the denominator of a fraction exceeds its numerator by 7 . If 1 is added to the numerator and 6 is added to the denominator , the new fraction obtained is 1/3. Find the original common fraction.

Let given fraction =
If 1 is added to numerator and 6 is added to denominator, fraction becomes 1/3
Hence ...................(1)
By solving eqn.(1) x = 5, and the fraction is 5/12
