- Original Jurisdiction: This jurisdiction refers to those cases that are heard and decided by the High Court for the first time. These cases include
- Disputes concerning fundamental rights
- Election petitions
- Issues regarding wills, marriages, divorces and contempt of court
- Appellate Jurisdiction: This jurisdiction refers to cases which the High Court hears against the judgments by the Subordinate Courts.
- Administrative Powers:
- Transfer a case from one High Court to another.
- Controls and supervises the functioning of Subordinate Courts.
- Act as a Court of Record.
- Enjoys the power of revisional jurisdiction.
