Chemistry forms an integral part of agriculture from molecular to organ level. It plays a role from the basics of photosynthesis to the utilization of agricultural produce.
1. Photosynthesis provides the basic building block for all the agricultural products.
2. Chemical fertilizers have high concentrations of chemicals that may be in short supply in the soil namely nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulphur.
3. Plastic which was derived form chemical reactions are used as pipes for improved irrigation.
4. Advancement in chemistry has resulted in development of technologies to produce a variety of chemicals from agricultural waste.
