Refraction at spherical surface , we have  begin mathsize 12px style mu over v minus 1 over u space equals space fraction numerator mu minus 1 over denominator R end fraction end style .............................(1)
where μ is refractive index, v is image distance and R is radius of curvature.

for the spherical surface above AB,  (1.6/v) + (1/2) = (0.6/1)   or v = 16 m ........................(2)

for the spherical surface below AB,  (2/v) + (1/2) = (1/1)    or  v = 4 m .........................(3)

From eqn.(2) and eqn.(3),  Image separation distance = 16-4 = 12 m
